Reference: Part of a 1939 series, a variant bracelet from which was advertised for sale at Elder's, price $20, in the Dayton [OH] Herald, 5 Dec 1939, p 5; click thumbnail above to view advertisement. The series, using striking combinations of shaded stones, was described in Womens Wear Daily 28 July 1939 p 11, as 'Ombre stone' jewelry, contemporary with (rather than 'inspired by') the French exhibits at the then current NYC World's Fair.
