Reference: Advertised for sale at Harvey's, price $40 plus tax, in the [Nashville] Tennessean, 29 Dec 1948, p 5; click thumbnail above to view advertisement. The spangled gold, and the presence of a clasp for one prong of the pin clip, confirm the 1948 date. Brunialti, American Costume Jewelry - Art and Industry (2008) Vol 2 p 98, wrongly dated 1941. The earlier 1941 unpatented designs, which this pin revisits, had three sprays - see TKF8127, TKF3811. The matching necklace in the Harvey's advert was patented (149837) in June 1948; but there is no patent for this pin clip despite the Pat Pend mark. Trifari referred to the entire 1948 fruit salad series by the name 'Fragonard' - see Womens Wear Daily, 20 Feb 1948, p 18 Reference Links - tkf8127 tkf3811
