Reference: Advertised for sale at The Crescent, as a 'jewel bedecked fawn' - the tail would confirm this - price $13.75 plus tax, in the [Spokane WA] Spokesman Review, 26 Mar 1944, p 24; click thumbnail above to view advertisement. It is similar in design to the 1945 patented 'Dancing Donkey', for which the patent is reproduced below (scroll down); designer Adolph Katz, filed May, granted Aug 1945; and see COR1767. Brunialti, American Costume Jewelry - Art and Industry (2008) Vol 1 p 150, mentions this pin not as a fawn, but as a variant, 'featuring a coloured enamel flower garland around the donkey's neck'.
